EmpirePoker.com, a leader in the online Poker Room field, sponsored the 2003 World Pool masters, recently held at the Hotel Zuiderduin, in the town of Egmond aan Zee in Holland. The tournament hosted 16 of the world’s best pool players competing in a straight knockout single elimination format, with prizes totaling $62,000.
The 2003 EmpirePoker.com World Pool masters was broadcast live at Dutch terrestrial broadcasters RTL5 and In addition, Matchroom Sport will be producing 15 x one hour programmes of the Masters for broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK as well as ESPN Star throughout Asia and numerous other territories.

The final game: Confirming his credentials as a world-class cue man, Malta’s Tony Drago defeated Hui-kai Hsia of Taiwan 8-6 to lift the 2003 EmpirePoker.com World Pool Masters title after a tense battle.
It was Drago’s first major pool final but having come so far in the event he was determined as ever as he won the lag by a hair’s breadth.
EmpirePoker.com served as the tournament’s official sponsor throughout the 3-day event, leading the climax of the event by presenting the Tournament Trophy to Malta’s Tony Drago.
